This adapter does work for 2.5mm headsets (with microphones)

There is apparently a lot of confusedness over what these adapters may do. I believe the problem is that there are two dissimilar wiring standards (pin-outs) for 2.5mm audio plugs and jacks: stereo headphones (two earpieces and no mic) vs. stereo or mono telephone headsets (one or two earpieces and a mic). The 2.5mm male plug’s tip and rings are the same dimensions/position, but wired differently.

Does what is supposed to..

I wanted to adjust a headset with 2.5mm jack to my iPad. Had a bit of trouble finding a stereo plus mike adapter.

This worked just fine. So did my old headset.
